It can't be *just* the dial-up if it's normally adequate.
I was also having absurdly slow loading, but that was a day earlier than DG's, and I suspect it was a browser issue -- though I had to restart it *twice* before it was normal again.

The problem isn't the site - it's dial-up.

I have dial-up and the site was normal yesterday evening. Tonight it's taking forever for pages to load. This topic took 3 minutes to load and then when I click the reply button I got the internet "page not available" page.
At this rate it will take hours to max post. :(

There have been several threads on the site being slow. The Mods say, they are working on a server issue. Yup, that will make the site slow, for sure. May be why, but hey, I am on dial up, and that is slow, anyway. Norm for me. But yes, slow, and more in the past few days, or week, anyway.

I'm sorry, GB. I can't read your whole post. See my last post where I agreed with byte.

Regarding your "I'm surprised that you've never seen that, byte, since you've been around forever. It does happen quite often and people will discuss it in real time when it happens." response to bytebug, include me in the group hasn't noticed any significant "big slow downs" ob this website. Granted, there may be some slowdowns when they take a server off line, but if there have been any recently, I can't remember them. The few slow downs I remember have either been of considerably greater significance than "during the past few days..." type of slow downs which affected a multitude of people who've contacted the moderators (about about the apparent "shutdown"greater significant responded to by the not being able to access the program and not being able to get points), or have been the result of computer/internet connections.
I agree with bytebug's comment "...especially in the last few days as reported by the OP. What I do knany ow very well from experience is that slow downs in website response are almost always tracked back to either issues with the individual's PC, or with their ISP."
Off the top of my head I can't remember one of the people who've commented on Gas Buddy slowdowns ever saying what else he/she was also doing at the time of the Gas Buddy "slowdown", identifying what other programs, etc., they were using, and if anything else was or was not affected, so there's some perspective.
In the example in this thread, Maintroll wrote: "...after I post a price or post on a forum, the site is extremely slow in picking up the posts"an extremely ambiguous comment. What does "extremely slow" mean other than compared to "very fast." A second or two longer? A minute or two longer? Some perspective has to be given that can be understood, regardless of whether whether or not it's a Gas Buddy website issue, other than "very slow." That, in itself, doesn't tell the moderators anything, let alone what to look for.
Just my opinion.

Maintroll,
Is this happening to any other sites you visit?

As I've reported in a previous thread, this site is evidently coded with specific support for me, so that I never experience the difficulties that others report.

I'm surprised that you've never seen that, byte, since you've been around forever. It does happen quite often and people will discuss it in real time when it happens. Well actually real time plus the lag.
But, after a second look, I see what you mean that Maint claims to have been experiencing this during the past few days. So he/she could be having a constant problem as you pointed out or could have experienced it once or twice each day. I'll back up and go with your original post.

I have seen a slow down from time to time but nothing that prevented me from posting anything and I don't know if it was me or the site.
You gonna eat with that mouth, plastic?

I don't know that at all! I've never seen the site slow down, especially in the last few days as reported by the OP. What I do know very well from experience is that slow downs in website response are almost always tracked back to either issues with the individual's PC, or with their ISP.

Byte, how do you know that Maine didn't already check that? You know damn well that this site experiences big slow downs when they take a server off line. This is a common occurrence on GB and you should know this.

...or more likely, you should look into what the problem is on your end.
