No Cap on Gas Prices

WSJ -- With a little more than six months to go before Election Day and with gas prices averaging $3.90 a gallon, the president called on Congress to pass new laws to help prevent financial speculators from driving up gas prices.

Stirring words, but ones unlikely to have any impact on gas prices. The measures Mr. Obama endorsed require congressional approval, and no one expects Congress to pass any of them.

There are things Mr. Obama could do under current law to rein in manipulation. For instance, investigate oil producers, refiners and traders. A year ago, he announced a "working group" of government regulators and law-enforcement agencies that would "root out any cases of fraud and manipulation."

It is well documented that he has gone on record of stating that he is for high gas prices. Now, we're hearing a different rhetoric only because we're in 2012 and November is around the corner. Rein in speculators. The article explains why he is on the opposite side he normally is. He knows Congress will not pass any new laws. Truth is he doesn't need any new laws but this emperor is used to running around in his new clothes (nothingness). He can direct the CFTC to quit delaying and shut down speculation. But he won't because other than the negative effects on his reelection, he loves sky high energy prices across the board. He has said so many times and his actions have backed it up time and again. .
