On the CU "Factors Driving Car Choices" item, I posted, "Mac48 has it right; determine your requirements, THEN select the most suitable vehicle that fits. When I lived at the uphill end of a 4-mile dirt road that climbed 1,300 feet, I needed a Suburban because I had three teenage kids, a spouse and a privately-maintained snow-covered road half the year.
Now, a Subaru Forester suits this suburban unmarried man well (though I still fantasize about a Porche 911 Targa or maybe an E-Jag...)"
